Anti-vaxxer’s response to cafe fury The anti-vaxxer, known as Dom, answered “absolutely” when asked if he regretted what he did.
An anti-vaxxer who launched a tirade against a Sydney barista has responded to public fury after being tracked down by media.
An anti-vaxxer who stirred up emotions by ranting against a Sydney cafe owner has said he regrets his actions after he was tracked down by a news team.
The man, who was identified by the first name Dom, answered “absolutely” when asked by a 10 News journalist if he regretted what he did.
“Absolutely, wholeheartedly – there’s a right way and a wrong way to go about disagreeing,” the man said.
His comments came two days after a video posted to Twitter captured the man shouting at a barista at Cafe Dzajko in Sydney‘s Tempe suburb.
“What makes you think I’m going to hand over my medical private information of whether I’m vaccinated or not vaccinated to buy a cup of coffee?” he was heard saying in the video.
“Do you see how insanely hypocritical that sounds? That you’re actually going to walk implicitly into segregation?”
NSW residents who choose not to get vaccinated will continue to live under lockdown rules until December 1, meaning they’re not supposed to visit cafes unless it is for takeout orders.
Owner Sally Dzajko told 10 News the incident was “devastating”.
But the rant also had the effect of causing social media users to support the cafe with a flood of positive messages – and inspired customers to line up for coffees.
Politicians including the former mayor of the Inner West, where Tempe is located, and NSW Small Business Minister Damien Tudehope urged people to support the cafe.
Asked if he would do the same thing again, Dom told 10 News: “Let’s just see what December 1 looks like for us.”
