Police urge Canberrans to lock up after Symonston aggravated burglary
Police are urging people to improve their home security following an aggravated burglary in Symonston this week.
Between 11pm Thursday, October 14 and 12.30am Friday, October 15 police believe there were four people acting suspiciously in the area who may have used a vehicle to leave a house quickly afterwards.
Police are asking anyone with CCTV or dash-cam footage captured in the Symonston area – particularly near Hindmarsh Drive, Jerrabomberra Avenue, Mugga Lane or the Monaro Highway – during this time frame to check their system for people acting or driving suspiciously.
Anyone with footage, or with any other information that may assist police is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website and quote reference 6933486. Information can be provided anonymously.
Off the back of the incident, police are urging Canberrans to think about their home security and get some advice from the Outsmart the Offender website.
Some tips include locking doors and windows even when you are at home, installing sensor lights or security cameras and never leaving keys outside your home.
