Street fights in suburban Melbourne escalated dramatically overnight where police responded to multiple stabbings.

A person was left on the street with life threatening stab wounds as police responded to multiple stabbings in Melbourne’s western suburbs overnight.

Police rushed to an address on Tatra Street in Tarneit where two people were stabbed after a fight broke out about 4.30am on Sunday.

Detectives remain at the scene about 9.30am, with police tape cordoning off the front yard of an address.

One of the victims was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated for serious injuries.

A second victim was treated at the scene before being flown to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Three males were arrested at the scene and the investigation is ongoing, Victoria Police said.

Police also responded to reports of a stabbing in Sunshine West earlier on about 1.20am.

Police believe an 18-year-old man left an address on Morrison Street with a friend and met up with two males known to him in nearby Mounsey Street.

A fight broke out between the men and the victim was stabbed in the lower body by one of the offenders, Victoria Police said.

The offender fled on foot and the victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
