Family reveals cause of death of former Neighbours actor Troy Beckwith

Beckwith’s sister, Juanita Sanger, shared images of her brother in a post tagged #cancersux.

“RIP bro,” she wrote. “Troy, we will always remember that most mischievous, contagious laugh. Everyone loved you. Boy did we have fun growing up. A free spirit that couldn’t be held down. And the stories … we could write a book! I know Mum will be so happy to be reunited with her boy. Peace at last.”

Fellow actor Brett Blewitt, who first appeared on Neighbours as Brett Stark in 1993 and last year returned to the rebooted show, was among the many who paid tribute to their friend.

“He was such a lovely person,” he wrote in a comment on Valentine’s post. “Deeply thoughtful and empathetic. Cheeky and playful once out of his shell. Way too soon. Love you mate.”

Jan Russ, who served as casting director on the show from 1985 until 2009 and was responsible for launching the career of many a young actor, wrote: “Oh no!!! Dear Troy … That is so sad … gorgeous boy.”
