Harris calls Trump and concedes 2024 race
David Plouffe, a longtime advisor to former President Barack Obama and senior adviser to the Harris-Walz campaign, has reflected on the election outcome.
He acknowledged that while the Democratic team “gave it their all,” they ultimately fell short against Trump.
Taking to social media, Plouffe described the campaign as a “privilege” to spend the last 100 days on the campaign.
“We dug out of a deep hole but not enough. A devastating loss. Thanks for being in the arena, all of you,” he said.
Meanwhile, campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon sent a message to staff, emphasising the ongoing work needed to “protect America from the impacts of a Trump presidency.”
In an email obtained by CNN, she acknowledged the pain of the loss, calling it “unfathomably painful”.
This will take a long time to process. But the work of protecting America from the impacts of a Trump Presidency starts now,” Dillon said.
Dillon also mentioned a phone call between Harris and Trump, during which Harris assured him that she would work with President Biden to ensure a peaceful transfer of power.
