Live: All the build-up as Mike Tyson takes on Jake Paul
The coverage on Netflix is about to go live
We’re about to go inside AT7T stadium in Arlington on the Netflix coverage for the first time today.
It’s quite some undertaking to make sure there’s full coverage.
I’m sure they have a good team there to make sure it all runs smoothly though…

The slap
Mike Tyson has come out and defended the reason he slapped Jake Paul at the weigh in yesterday.
He says that it was because Paul stepped on his foot when he bizarrely crabbed his way towards the former champion for the face off.
I guess that means they’re even?

New fan!
I have never actively sat down and watched boxing but I’m not a fan of Paul (and have Netflix) so here we go!
– Jess
Lovely to have you with us, Jess.
Judging by a lot of what I’m hearing and reading, I think most of Jake Paul’s success in pay per view fights comes from people wanting to see him get punched.
And this is exactly what Netflix wants to happen.
In that way, this is something of a genius move from both them and Jake Paul to get more eyes on boxing.
You don’t need a huge number of Netflix’s existing 282.7 million subscribers to tune in for this to be a success.
One to live long in the memory
One way or another this fight will be remembered.
– Jumbarrawa
I think you’re absolutely right, Jumbarrawa.
For better or worse.
Defeat for Dana Coolwell
Sadly, things did not go so well for Dana over there in Texas.
He was dropped twice on his way to a unanimous decision defeat.
All three judges gave undefeated American Bruce Carrington all eight rounds in the one-sided encounter.
It’s the third career defeat for the 25-year-old Queenslander, but what an experience in what was just his second career overseas fight.
How many undercard fights?
How many fights on the undercard please?
– Coco
There are seven fights total on the card, including Paul vs Tyson.
These are already underway – I’m not entirely sure where we’re up to because the televised part of the show has not started yet.
But so far we have had two fights in the can and one is ongoing, which means, I think, we’ll have three fights before Mike Tyson gets into the ring.
Peering through my fingers
Hello Simon, I’m here to watch you look away and blog the fight at the same time…
– Mike
I may have to ask someone in the office to stand behind me and cover my eyes…
Some Tyson-hype for you to get around

Aussie Dana Coolwell on the undercard
Queensland featherweight Dan Coolwell (13-2) is in action on this card.
He’s taking on undefeated American Bruce Carrington (12-0).
You can read a whole lot more about the “Deadly” 25-year-old from the Sunshine Coast hinterland, here.
When does Tyson vs Paul start?
The action does not get under way until midday AEDT.
So there is a bit of time to go before we all get into the fighting.
In the meantime, let me know what you think?

Where can I watch the Mike Tyson Jake Paul fight
Today’s fight marks the latest foray into live sports streaming for Netflix.

Previously, Netflix has streamed “The Netflix Cup”, which saw F1 drivers team up with PGA Tour members for a round of golf in November 2023.
Then there was “The Netflix Slam,” between Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz.
But this one blows those events out of the water in terms of intrigue.
As of the third quarter of 2024, Netflix has 282.7 million global subscribers.
Those people do not have to pay an extra cent to get access to this fight, meaning the potential eyeballs on this event are truly mind blowing.
Commentary on Netflix will be available in five different languages. There has been a three-episode “Countdown” series associated with the fight as well.
Live updates: Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul
Hello folks and welcome to the live ABC Sport coverage of this sporting event that is at least as controversial as it as anticipated.
My name is Simon Smale and I’ll be taking you through all the action as it happens at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
This is, undoubtedly, a tricky thing to cover.
On one hand, you have several eagerly anticipated bouts, including a rematch between two of the all time greats of women’s sport in Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor.
But on the other, you have a contest between a man who has no right to be in a ring and another who you could argue the same.
Former heavyweight champion of the world Mike Tyson, aged 58, against a man who has made it his mission to revive boxing in Jake Paul.
Will Paul, a former YouTube star, destroy the sport he is trying to save by embarrassing one of its greatest names, albeit in a vastly diminished state to his prime, which was the best part of 30 years ago?
Time will tell.
There are so many arguments against this event taking place.
There are so many people who are going to be watching it anyway.
So, perhaps begrudgingly, lets see where this takes us.
