Aussie Scott somersaults her way to aerial bronze at world titles

Danielle Scott has won bronze in the women’s aerials to round off a successful weekend for Australia at the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships in St Moritz, Switzerland.

It was Sydney-born Scott’s fourth world championships medal following silvers in 2017 and 2023, and bronze in 2013.

She scored second highest in the first run in the final, recording 98.34, with Canada’s Marion Thénault (104.31) topping the standings.

Scott posted 96.93 in the second run, while Kaila Kuhn of the US took gold with 105.13 and Xu Mengtao (China) silver with 99.16.

Cam Bolton and Mia Clift also took silver in the snowboard cross mixed team final.

Add in the bronze won in the dual moguls by Matt Graham in the first week and Australia finished with four medals to place eighth on the table.

In other events, New Zealand teenager Finlay Melvlle Ives won the men’s freeski halfpipe ahead of US Olympic medallists Nick Goepper and Alex Ferreira.

US-born Brit Zoe Atkin won the women’s event.

In the day’s other medal event, Swiss Noe Roth won the men’s aerials.
