Man charged with murder after fatal stabbing in Melbourne

Emergency services were called to a property on Churchill Avenue, Ascot Vale, at 4am on Saturday after reports of an injured man.

Officers found a 36-year-old Ascot Vale man with fatal stab wounds at the government housing estate.

A 29-year-old Ascot Vale man was arrested at the scene and conveyed to hospital under police guard with minor injuries.

This afternoon he was charged with murder and common law assault.

He will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today. 

Police believe the parties involved were known to each other.
